S-Words
December 10, 2009, 21:04 EST

I was on another S-Words podcast this week. This time the topic was 'Survival Horror'. Take a listen and you can hear my mostly healed, but still some what craggy, voice talk about nerdy things.

Comic delays
December 7, 2009, 20:39 EST

I'm been pretty damn sick the last two weeks, and as the guy who draws the comics, you can imagine this will delay updates. I'll see if I can get some doodles posted or something for your visual amusement.

Bigger Ups
December 7, 2009, 18:11 EST

I had to give Big Up Magazine kind of a qualified, wishy-washy recommendation because I hadn't yet seen the physical product. It knew it was almost certainly good, but I couldn't risk misleading you in good conscience. You are my bros! Even those readers who are women.

However! I have since held the magazine in my hands and can give it a hearty thumbs up.

I said last time I really liked the art, and that's still true. The interviews with the artists are equally as good.

The print quality makes it pop, too. As someone who's priced some printing over the years, I was impressed. It's a nice, perfect-bound, glossy color print run. Four issues for $25 with shipping, and an included CD, is a damn good deal.

In fact, I like it enough to get a subscription as a gift for one of the people on my list.

Props to Daisy, a far more expressive cartoonist than I.

Favors
November 24, 2009, 21:34 EST

A friend of a friend has a magazine, and they need 100 subscribers to print the next issue.

I said I might know a few people.

(I will admit that I haven't actually read said magazine, but I do like the art.)

Here's the subscription page if you're interested.

UPDATE: Current subscription count is 16. I... I am going to lose serious face at this rate. By god, I promised 100, and I'm going to get it if I have to sell subscriptions in front of Safeway.

That settles it...
November 16, 2009, 08:08 EST

...I'm a bad person. I can't even blame the wrongness of this comic on George, either. He's too busy being awesome to corrupt me. Every time I laugh at another stupid internet image or chortle at some schadenfreude, a voice in my head questions what's left of my humanity. Reguardless, I'm sure this comic is bound to make my parents proud. U_U...

Unrelated; I'm very very behind on my inbox. I ask both for your patience and forgiveness.

No comic this week: Have a wallpaper!
November 5, 2009, 02:20 EST

Got my computer up and running again, but I'm just going to wait till Monday for the next strip. Till then, here's a wallpaper I did:

1920 x 1200
1600 x 1200
1024 x 768

It was basically the proof of concept for the above comic's art style. Was pretty happy with the results.

Yeah, it's too dark...
October 30, 2009, 16:10 EST

Looking at the comic on my work monitor does confirm the comic to be too dark. I'll fix that when I get off work tonight. All fixed!

Side note: I'm in S-Words again! Want to hear my irritating voice and fail to add anything meaningful to the conversation? Then check out these podcasts!

And remember, you can find Dom and his friends shooting the shit weekly on S-Words, so make sure to check them out on iTunes.

Halloween and that Jazz
October 30, 2009, 05:04 EST

My normal laptop is out of commission for a little bit so I did this comic on Jes's computer. Though, I don't know if her monitor is calibrated correctly as I now worry the comic is much darker than I intended it. Well, even so, it looks pretty good on the monitor in front of me now.

It's just a little Warcraft joke, but I hope that even if you don't play you can find Calabim cute enough to make up for the joke.

Music
October 21, 2009, 13:42 EST

So, Borderlands came out yesterday, and thanks to that game's trailer I've had "No rest for the wicked" stuck in my head. I think I've listened to that track 40 times in the last couple days.

Also, I stumbled upon this guy, Dub FX, last week. Weird stuff, but damn it's catchy.

You know what you should do today?
October 19, 2009, 03:41 EST

You should totally look at some cool art.

Or perhaps you hire people that make cool art? In either case, I may have a suggestion or two...

APE this weekend!
October 13, 2009, 03:31 EST

...But I won't be there. Regardless of what the rant below here says, I, Ian McConville, will not be at APE. I am required else where, and while I'm sorry that I will miss out on meeting a both reader and author alike, it is something I must do. However, Matt will still be attending. He'll just have more leg room than previously.

Please, bring him coffee. He loves the stuff.

Side note, as the above comic will show, I'm not good at drawing cats. Their physique is too alien for me to bend and flex. Cute buggers though, and their features are what make mithra girls so cute too.
